Have A Great Trip Card

Following up to my post of September 27th, here is the card and tutorial that was posted to Momento Divertido's blog this past Sunday.  Although this chipboard is made here in Brasil, if you are in the NYC area, The Ink Pad at 7th Avenue and 13th Street does carry many different designs from this company.  You can also substitute a hot air balloon rubber stamp in place of the chipboard.

If you are in Brasil or speak Portuguese, you can find the instructions in Portuguese HERE!

Have A Good Trip Card

Supplies Used:
Hot Air Balloon Chipboard from Momento Divertido
An Alphabet set or a rubber stamp phrase
White cardstock 8.5 x 5.5"
Dark Blue cardstock 4.25" x 5.5"
Light Blue cardstock 4" x 5.25"
Primer or Gesso
Acrylic Paints in Silver, Red, Yellow, Blue, Green, Orange and Cafe
Double Sided Tape
Black marker or Black Gel Pen
Small paintbrushes.  One needs to be a fine/micron tip.
Diamond Glaze or other clear glue
Acrylic Varnish or Gel Medium for a top coat

Step by Step:

1.  Fold the white cardstock in half to make your card base.

2.  Glue the dark cardstock to the card front with double sided tape.

3.  Cut and glue the cloud die cuts on to the light blue cardstock where you want them.  I like to lay them on the paper and position the balloons over them before I glue the clouds down so that you know that the clouds will be behind the balloons.  Allow one or two to come off the paper.

4.  Trim any clouds that were coming off the paper.  Glue the light blue cardstock to the dark blue cardstock with double sided tape.

5.  Put a coat of primer or gesso on the chipboard balloons you will be using.  Just a light coat.  It will dry fast.

6.  Using black paint and a very fine brush, or a black marker or a black gel pen (which I used here), slowly color in the lines on the balloons.  After you paint them, you can go back and add more black if you need it.

7.  Paint your balloons.  I love lots of color in my work so each balloon is two different colors.  I used Cafe for the basket of each balloon and metallic silver for right above the basket.  After you have painted the balloons, allow them to dry and then give a coat or two of an acrylic varnish.  Allow to dry.

8.  Stamp your phrase or saying in black ink at the bottom of the light blue cardstock.  I used an alphabet set from a Brasilian rubber stamp company and stamped "Boa Viagem".

9.  Using the Diamond Glaze (or other good clear glue), glue the balloons down on the front of the card.  Diamond Glaze is great because it holds very well and it dries clear.

10.  Sign the back of your card and give or send to someone!!

Hope you enjoyed!!
